(Watch live –) International Gender Equality Prize will be awarded in Tampere, Finland on 8 December
Finland will award the International Gender Equality Prize for the fifth time. The prize is awarded to a person or organisation that has made a significant international contribution to gender equality. In 2025, the prize amounts to €300 000 and it will be presented at Tampere Old City Hall by Prime Minister Petteri Orpo.
The award ceremony can be followed live on Yle Areena (Yle Areena) starting at 17:30.
As part of the prize programme, the City of Tampere will host an afternoon symposium on Monday, 8 December, at Tampere Hall. The event will examine the intensified global backlash against gender equality in recent years. Experts will explore the background and impacts of this phenomenon, especially through the experiences and perspectives of young people.
The symposium can be followed live on Yle Areena (Yle Areena) from 13:30 to 15:30.
Both events and livestreams will be in English without subtitles.
